Argument Writing During this unit of study, students will learn the art of crafting an argumentative essay with an emphasis on providing sound claims backed by evidence. Students will also learn to present.

Their mind can be well-cultivated by choosing biting and incisive argumentative essay topics. Of course, you will have to keep the topics conversant to their standard. The operative words are creativity and analysis.

Attracting attention

You should think of unique topics which first attract their attention before they invariably feel they know about the topic. This leads them to do elemental research (at their level, you can only expect elementary research).

Worth of debates

You should make them discuss among themselves on pertinent and relevant topics so they can create a mental pool from which to derive ideas and inspiration. This also accredits them with further prowess of dissection and shape.

Ingrained in nature

You should ask them to conjure interesting topics and then write small yet evocative pieces, taking one or the other side of the argument. The tenet is actually ingrained in human nature; so you don’t have to teach a child how to argue; only to argue discreetly.

Going through samples

You should make them go through effective samples that may open their eyes on the texture of such pieces and how the germane points should be emphasized on. They should also view educational channels on television to be more alert.

You can always write on a subject on which the opinions are already made by majority of the people but the real challenge is writing on something on which the opinions are still divided. Here are a few pointers to help you write the perfect argumentative paper.

Writing a winning paper

When you are going to write you will have to follow a few guidelines. A well written argumentative essay will impress your teacher and help you get good grades. To do this you will have to write according to a specific format that helps the reader in understanding what you are trying to say. A persuasive paper has to bring out the best points of the argument to help convince the reader. It is very much like writing a script for a debate where you will have to present your side of the story and also do your best to defend it.

  • The first thing you will have to do is pick a topic to work on. There are many different topics to work on but make sure you select something that has enough materials to write on. You can always choose safe topics but a controversial subject makes it more challenging.
  • After you have selected the topic you will have to start digging for facts. You will have to support your views with logics and facts. The information has to be accurate otherwise you will not be able to convince your reader.
  • You may even go through a few websites to understand how the format should be. There are many websites that have sample papers to help students. Once you understand the structure you will have to start writing.
  • You will have to plan your way according to the topic. You do not have to cram all the points you have found. Rather try to bring together the most relevant facts and elaborate on those. The order in which you arrange the points is also important.
  • Try to keep the flow and continuity of your paper. Proper planning will ensure your transitions from one point to the next are effective.
  • Do not forget to proofread once you have completed writing the whole paper.
